Employee of the Month – September 2015

September 1st, 2015

Joy Burney 1 188x300 - Employee of the Month - September 2015Please join us in congratulating the Philly Temps Employee of the Month for September 2015 – Joy Burney

A Philadelphia native, Joy has been with Philly Temps since September 2013. While she has worked mostly at conventions, she has also been known to bring her effervescent personality, great smile and stellar customer service skills to receptionist and event guard positions. She has even helped some of our catering clients serve up some great meals.

Joy’s email sign off, “Love wins all”, always leaves us with a smile. This flexibility along with her positive attitude makes this mother of four an ideal choice for Employee of the Month.

We recently spoke with Joy to get to know her just a little better.

Philly Temps: Congratulations on being the Employee of the Month for September 2015

JB: Thanks for choosing me for employee of the month I am grateful.

PT: What is your work experience?
JB:  My previous work experience was at Wal-Mart. Customer service has always been my background there’s just something about working with people that gives me a since of joy.

PT: How did you hear about Philly Temps?
JB: I heard about Philly Temps through my cousin Stacy Sharp.

PT: What has your experience as a temp been like thus far?
JB: My experience as a temp has been good so far. It is convenient to schedule around the gigs because I get advanced notice of the dates.

PT: Please share your most memorable experience working for Philly Temps?
JB: My most memorable experience with Philly Temps was when I did room monitoring at the Marriott. I think it was a 90’s reception, the music was great, the attendees made a soul train line going through the door and insisted I join in so I was able to shake a tail feather at the door (fun).

PT: What are your long term career goals?
JB:  My goal is to own a food truck. I have a passion for cooking but more so to see others enjoy my cooking. It is very gratifying.

PT: What is your life like outside of work? What are your hobbies? Are you involved in your community?
JB:  My life outside of work is something like work. I’m a single mother of four sons 18, 16, 14, and my baby is six. All attend different schools, which I am very involved in. I am a member PCAP (a parent union for the Philadelphia school district). I also manage my 16 yr. old music career, which is a blast and a headache all at once because he think he’s already famous. I wouldn’t change my life for the world. I feel I am where I am supposed to be right now and Philly Temps makes it possible to be involved in my children’s lives because of the convenient work schedule.
