Employee of the Month – October 2015

October 2nd, 2015

Erin has been with Philly Temps on a long term assignment since she first started with us.  It’s not a coincidence she was picked for October’s Employee of the Month,  but October happens to be her one year anniversary at her current assignment!  Erin is poised, professional and a very reliable employee, and has demonstrated this over the last year.

We recently interviewed Erin to get to know her a little better.

Congratulations on being The Employee of the month for October 2015!

Philly Temps (PT): How long have you lived in the Philadelphia, PA area?

Erin Longstreet (EL): Just over a year now.

PT: How did you hear about Philly Temps?

EL: I had just moved to Philly and was having bad luck with the job hunt. Eventually an internet search brought Philly Temps to my attention and it seemed like just what I needed.

PT: What has your experience as a temp been like thus far?

EL: Probably a bit different than most of the other temps, since I was placed on an essentially “permanent” assignment, so I’ve been going to the same office every day since I started. It’s been great! I like the routineness of it, but I’m still learning things all the time.

PT: Please share your most memorable experience working for Philly Temps?

EL: Honestly I still remember coming in to the Philly Temps offce for the first time for an interview and being so nervous—needlessly. Then shortly after I remember Alexa helping me prepare for the interview with my assignment. I didn’t have very much interview experience before that, so again I was super nervous. There was really no need for the nerves though, everyone is so nice and everything turned out so well!

PT: What is your previous work experience?

EL: In college I worked for the Linguistics department as an office assistant as well as a teaching assistant. Before that, I had worked concessions at an outdoor performance venue.

PT: What are your long term career goals?

EL: My long term goals are to continue developing lifelong skills and growing professionally while working for a company whose mission I believe in and can get excited about each day.

PT: What is your life like outside of work? What are your hobbies? Are you involved in your community?

EL: In addition to my Philly Temps assignment I also intern at the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia. I studied Japanese in college and lived in Tokyo for the summer after graduation, so I thought that would be a good way to maintain the Japan connection. Outside of all that, I love cooking, going to concerts, and I also play a lot of video games in my free time.
