A Name You Remember with an Attitude You Can't Forget!

The Philly Temps & Perm Employee of the Month for October 2022 has not only a memorable name, she has a work ethic and personality that stand out as well!

Dakota D. was brought to us through a simple Google search, however, we’re the ones who are ‘Feeling Lucky’! Dakota has an open mind, is a clear communicator, an active listener as well as a lateral thinker. This has made each assignment we have given her result in success.

A person with many hobbies, we are thrilled she finds the time to help our clients. She seamlessly transfers her creative spirit into functional tasks, and never loses her individuality.

The Philly Temps team has been so impressed with Dakota that we would feel comfortable asking her to work an assignment in our own office. In fact, we did! If you happen to call our office, be sure to congratulate Dakota on being chosen as this month’s Employee of the Month.

Thank you, Dakota, for all of your hard work!

Philly Temps (PT): How long have you lived in the Philadelphia, PA area?

Dakota D. (DD): I grew up in Montgomery county, but I moved to Philadelphia at the beginning of the year after finishing college.

PT: What was your work experience prior to working with Philly Temps?

DD: I have worked in a variety of roles from front-facing positions in food and customer service to behind-the-scenes positions in the curatorial department at museums. I've been a barista, a delivery driver, a sales associate, and a teacher's assistant. Most of my recent (and favorite) experience has been with collections management and increasing accessibility within museums.

PT: How did you hear about Philly Temps?

DD: I heard about Philly Temps through a Google search. I read the reviews, and I saw that many people had positive experiences with the organization. Reading about others' experiences helped motivate me to send my resume in.

PT: Please share your most memorable experience working for Philly Temps.

DD: I think my most memorable experience working for Philly Temps was while helping with a move-in event. It was great to meet other people both in the agency and in the city. I was in a position where I was there to help make the lives of people new to the city easier, and it was pleasant to be able to help others like that. Beyond meeting really incredible people, I heard about the struggles that other people have faced while applying for jobs, and it helped me know that this isn't a unique struggle to me.

PT: Do you have a favorite local place to shop / visit?

DD: I really like shopping at Proper Goods on Frankford Ave. They have a fun selection of plants and unique gifts. I'm always surprised by what I find. It's in such a fun part of town too that I always end up stopping at one of the nearby thrift stores or getting a drink or ice cream on the way home.

PT: What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

DD: I have more hobbies than I do free time, but I am really invested in gardening, crochet, baking, drawing, and reading. I've started expanding my interests though, and I have been playing Dungeons & Dragons and taking aerial hoop classes.

PT: What are your long-term career goals?

DD: Ultimately, I want to teach history at the college level. I'm interested in continuing my education and working with a museum or a non-profit group that focuses on public art or history.

PT: What advice can you give to prospective candidates that want to work with Philly Temps?

DD:  I think the most important advice I have is to just go for it. It can be really scary to be at a crossroads in your life and even more so to do something new or unfamiliar to you. Even if you are unsure of what you want to do or if you don't believe this lines up with your plan for yourself, it's great to push yourself out of your comfort zone and grow as a person. Every position you take is going to help you learn new things and develop both as an individual and a professional, and sometimes you can even surprise yourself.
