When Esteban C. walked into our offices during an open house last year, we had no way of knowing what a competent, engaged, conscientious and professional person he is. Now that he has proven himself to be all those things and more, we have decided to name Esteban as the Philly Temps & Perm Employee of the Month for October 2020.

Being able to clearly communicate expectations and goals is important for Employers and Job Seekers, Now, perhaps more than ever before. It is also important to keep an open mind and be willing to keep an eye on the bigger picture.

Esteban did not just open the door to our office, he opened the door to a successful partnership, and we are grateful that he did.

Philly Temps (PT): How did you hear about Philly Temps?

Esteban C (EC): My spouse suggested I look into temp agencies in the area. Philly Temps seemed the most promising and delivered on the hope.

PT: What was your work experience prior to working with Philly Temps?

EC: I had a 15 year tenure with a financial services provider, in customer service and relationship management. I pivoted to human and social services in 2018 and signed on with Philly Temps & Perm in late 2019.

PT: Please share your most memorable experience working for Philly Temps.

EC: I had the pleasure of seeing people (hospital staff and patients) experience amusement, engagement, and sometimes wonder, testing VR equipment designed for medical/ therapeutic applications. I also got to be part of a team working to make physical and cognitive recuperation more efficacious.

PT: How are you enjoying the remote work transition?

EC: The transition was smoother than I had expected. My concern at feeling isolated has been mediated because my spouse also transitioned to remote work and we share the company of four cats.

PT: What are your long-term career goals?

EC: I want to earn a Master's Degree in Social Work and focus my career on advocacy and, in turn, individual and community empowerment.

PT: What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

EC: Reclaiming/relearning Spanish, my first language. Practicing the banjo. Drawing. Did I mention our cats?

PT: What advice can you give to prospective candidates that want to work with Philly Temps?

EC: Don't be afraid to mention what you want to learn or any field you want to explore. Philly Temps staff are responsive and supportive.
